Heart palpitations

Occasional rapid fluttering or pounding of the heart.

Perimenopause heart palpitations
  • The Oestrogen Connection: Oestrogen helps regulate the autonomic nervous system—the part that controls your heartbeat. When oestrogen fluctuates, that regulation can become momentarily unstable.

  • The "Flutter" of Change: Palpitations, pounding, or racing sensations can feel alarming, but they are often a benign expression of the body's massive internal transition.

  • A Nervous System Reset: Your heart and brain are learning a new way to communicate. During this "unstable" phase, your heart may "make itself known" more frequently as it recalibrates.

  • Slowing the Pulse: This is a physical invitation from your body. It is asking for a slower pace, deeper breaths, and a softening of the physical and emotional tension often held in the chest area.

Aromatherapy Essential Oil Ritual

Ylang ylang / Petitgrain When palpitations arrive, place a drop of Ylang Ylang or Petitgrain on a tissue and breathe slowly — in through the nose, out through the mouth. A warm bath with either oil dispersed is a beautiful evening practice for those whose palpitations are tied to anxiety and stress. If palpitations are frequent, always consult your practitioner.

Ylang Ylang genuinely slows heart rate on inhalation; petitgrain calms the fight-or-flight response that so often triggers peri-related palpitations.

Never apply essential oils directly to skin — always dilute in a carrier oil first.
